Founder, Darrell Fertakos

Early Life/Career:

After high school, Darrell had the unique experience of working with researchers in the brainwave entrainment industry at one of the first Mind-Gyms in the U.S.A. where his boss, a neuroscience researcher inspired Darrell to try and invent like Thomas Edison did.

Darrell used $10,000 light, sound, motion, and bio-feedback machines at work and at home to alter his brain waves –to expand his creative potential, in his quest to try and invent like Thomas Edison did, and in so doing, Darrell created 100s of new product, TV show, and venture concepts within his mind off top of his head, in record-setting times and later filed at the U.S. patent office.

Thomas Edison in his peak created and filed 106 patent applications in one year, http://edison.rutgers.edu/patents.htm, Darrell in one month or so off top of his head while in college, began to write down and describe over 350 of his creative ideas for new inventions, ventures, TV show ideas, gadgets, and innovative services, he began to visualize within his mind.

Since this time, Darrell created and documented 100s of additional creations of his, exceeding the creation of well over 1,500 ideas self-created and approx. 750+ documented. 60% visualized off top of his head, 20% thru observations, and 20 % by market and competitive analysis or via group brainstorming.

Recent Years & Accomplishments:

Darrell went on to receive a new invention award out of 4,200  from The History Channel and National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation as sponsors in The Modern Marvels Invent Now Challenge, inventing in R&D one of the first Mobile Coupon and Payment apps prior to the launch of the app store, to further inspire the $550 billion mobile fin-tech industry to emerge. In addition, Darrell received a new invention award in his MBA program back in 2010 inventing similar smart glasses to what Google Glass and Facebook Ray Ban Stories later became, years prior to some of the top companies in the world.

Darrell even wrote to Steve Jobs at Apple Inc, CEO of AT&T and Verizon hoping to get meetings in 2006 to develop The App Store before it emerged….and traveled to Disney Inc. in 2000 as a very young person, to try and get a meeting with Disney Inc. hoping to co-create a new product similar in design to what Facebook and YouTube later became, in his quest to help his former employer Disney grow.

Sadly with restrictive red-tape, no unsolicited idea, and closed innovations policies, it was nearly impossible to get meetings, in his quest to co-create new products together.  That is why he formed Boundless Innovations to inspire companies globally to open doors to inventors, so they could more easily sell, license or co-create new products and services so both parties can mutually benefit.

Darrell began an open innovation social network for inventors- to help entrepreneurs find product  licensing deals from product development companies and co-created the hit TV show Pitchmen aired on The Discovery Channel to help inventors bring their product dreams to market, with the help of the best TV show pitchmen in the USA and established product development companies.

In addition, Darrell became an invention instructor at STEM school, and a guest speaker on how to invent  winning products at invention clubs, schools, and organizations. Darrell also appeared on TV for his Air Bag Helmet invention on ABC hit TV show American Inventor as NY finalist, The Jay Leno Tonight Show for his similar invention years prior to the Electronic Cigarette, featured on The Discovery Channel PitchMen TV show as a prolific inventor, with additional appearances on CNBC- The Big Idea, CNN- Your Money, History Channel Modern Marvels.com, and almost appeared on Shark Tank and Apprentice as an award-winning product visionary, inventor and entrepreneur.

Darrell business is also recognized as one of the most innovative in NJ by The Tech Council and in the world by Innovationsoftheworld.com

He also found inspiration by working with team member Dr. Sundhar, where Darrell has success helping Dr. Sundhar sell patents. Most recently Darrell helped a local inventor become a top seller on QVC with Clampchampion.com  and wowed many with his new AI and internet innovations at CES since 2020 and his new TV shows in R&D..

Astonishing Facts:

Many inventors have similar ideas, Thomas Edison was not the first to invent the light bulb, nor was Alexander Graham Bell the first to invent the Telephone, read history. It is documented fact that Darrell Fertakos also began to design and invent similar product ideas, features, and designs around the same time or prior to what later became popular “Social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, mobile credit card readers- similar to Square, wearables-similar to Fitbit, smart watches, the App store, mobile coupons, keychain breathalyzer, electronic cigarette, airbag helmet, Google glass, Oculus Rift, and Darrell created 50+ TV show ideas similar in design to what later became- NBC America Got Talent, ABC Shark Tank TV show, CNBC- The Profit, Money Court and many more…

Darrell is also a design contributor and inventor to some of the best-selling “As Seen On TV branded consumer products” selling in excess of over 75 Million units producing over two billion in sales results on TV and in 1,000s of retail stores.  Sadly the most painful experience in his life was not getting paid as promised for this work…..trusting a verbal contract, with a company that later got sued by the NJ Attorney General for scamming 1,000s of people. Darrell’s advice is always to get contracts in writing along with Non-Disclosure and Non-Compete if possible.

Advocacy:

As an advocate on behalf of entrepreneurs, Darrell petitioned the U.S. Patent office to lower patent fees to help small businesses with success, was an early pioneer in the “Open Innovation Movement” and met briefly with the V.P of the U.S.A. to inspire the Government to help entrepreneurs in more ways than ever before to help stimulate the economy. Darrell even wrote to TV networks back in 2004-2007 to inspire the creation of new TV shows to form – to help inventors and entrepreneurs and been invited as a distinguished guest at Universities and organizations seeking new ideas, inventions and passion to help fuel corporate and economic growth via working and innovating together.

Challenges:

The biggest challenge and most painful experience in his personal life and career – was being copied, beat to market, having his intellectual property infringed and betrayed when fresh out of college by an unethical executive at a product company Darrell later discovered had a long history of deception, fraud and IP theft, who promised to fund and help with his inventions. This unethical company was later sued by the NJ attorney general for scamming 1,000s of people, with 125 + lawsuits against them, class action lawsuits, FTC lawsuits, FBI investigations and over 52 intellectual property infringement lawsuits, sadly Darrell got tricked like many to get hurt by the same company.

Who further developed Darrell’s dreams, TV show idea- Pitchmen, open innovation social network for inventors Darrell began to build, business plans, and inventions in R&D to grow to record-setting sales results in the billions. Sadly, Darrell never got paid or credit for this work and his IP according to terms agreed to.  This was a huge set back in his career and business, especially when slandered in the news and court as well by competitors that were hurting startups as reported about in over 50 legal cases and  the news: https://www.inventorsdigest.com/articles/absolutelyscrewed/

Steve Jobs and many famous inventors in history sadly at times trusted the wrong business partners to experience similar challenges as well. *

Darrell aims to help others by educating inventors about scams that exist in the invention industry which makes startups lose over $300 million a year, plus the loss of millions of jobs and loss of $200 to $400 billion to the economy yearly all as a result of IP theft and breaches of contracts which inspired U.S. Congress to pass- 1999 American Inventors Protection Act. Luckily millions of good people and great companies exist, the key to success is finding them. It is important to note, most people follow laws and want to help talent succeed only a small percent break laws and take advantage. Every industry has this challenge, so be careful who you work with, take time to get to know people, don’t jump into a business deal right away and aim for contracts to be in writing.

The Future:

Moving forward Darrell seeks to work out win-win deals that are mutually beneficial, as an ethical leader inspiring ethics, innovation, joint ventures, and win-win deals to be worked out, so all benefit via working together to co-develop the best new products and TV shows possible to serve humanity, then finding win-win ways to share revenue/profits.

Darrell dreams of a better future where more earn a higher standard of living and where 50% + are well off, not just 25% or less around the world.  Billions globally are still very poor and millions struggling financially in U.S.A and billions more abroad, without jobs, food, water, or affordable housing, still in the 21st century.

Nothing can help our nation get out of 30 trillion + in debt more so than by new venture formation and job creation. In addition, less terrorism, wars, and crime will emerge when unemployment levels decrease as countless studies have shown. Create a world with more opportunities for a better life for all where billions don’t suffer anymore lacking work, food, or shelter, and we can co-create a new future filled with peace where infinite innovations and possibilities can emerge in the future.

Boundless Innovations formed to inspire the world to work with us to co-create boundless innovations and opportunities together – needed to create a future with global prosperity rather than hundreds of more years where billions still suffer in poverty. Visit GlobalIssues.org
